Edible oil prices rose another notch

The government has set the maximum price of essential commodity edible oil. The maximum price of loose soybean oil has been fixed at Tk 117, which was earlier Tk 115, and the maximum price of bottled soybean oil has been fixed at Tk 139 per liter, which was earlier Tk 135.

On Monday (March 15), the price and supply of edible oil was discussed in a national committee formed under the Essential Products Marketing Distributor Recruitment Order, 2011. There, after a detailed audit, the maximum price of edible oil per liter is fixed according to the uniform pricing method.

According to the decision, 1 liter loose soybean is priced at Rs 113 at the millgate, Rs 115 at the dealer and the maximum price is Rs 117. The price of 1 liter of bottled soybean is set at Tk 127 at the millgate, Tk 131 at the dealer and the maximum price is Tk 139.

The price of 5 liter bottled oil is fixed at Rs 620 at Millgate, Rs 640 at dealer and maximum at Rs 660. Also, the price of 1 liter of palm oil loose (super) oil is fixed at Rs 104 at Millgate, Rs 106 at dealers and the maximum price is Rs 109.

According to Commerce Ministry sources, due to instability in the prices of crude soybean and palm oil in the international market, the National Committee has met to consider the interests of the country’s refining mills and consumers.
