Thousand crores loan assistance from the World Bank for agricultur
The World Bank is providing loans to increase the agricultural production of the country. If the project is implemented with the money of this loan, it will help to increase the productivity of climate stability, irrigated agriculture and fish farming.
According to a press release sent from the World Bank’s Dhaka office in this regard, at present the amount of this loan of the World Bank in the agricultural sector is 120 million dollars. In Bangladeshi currency, the amount is about 1 thousand 20 crore rupees. The World Bank thinks that this money will play an important role in food security in Bangladesh.
In a statement to the media on Wednesday (March 10th), World Bank Country Director Marsimiang Tembob said the project would ensure income growth, livelihoods and stability for local people in the face of climate change, in line with agricultural productivity involved in climate-dependent water management.
The Climate-Smart Agriculture and Water Management Project will rehabilitate and modernize public flood control and irrigation (FCDI) infrastructure, the statement said. The project will help improve irrigation and drainage services in 115,000 hectares of land. As a result, crop damage will be reduced by 60 percent due to floods. The project will help increase the incomes of 170,000 poor people at risk for climate change. The company said that half of the beneficiaries will be women.
