The Commerce Ministry has informed the cabinet that there are sufficient stocks of six daily commodities in the country ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. The Commerce Ministry said this at a virtual cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday (March 9).
This was stated by Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam at a press briefing at the Secretariat after the cabinet meeting. From the Ganobhaban, the Prime Minister and Ministers from the Cabinet Division in the Secretariat attended the meeting via video conference. Ramadan, the month of fasting for Muslims, is starting on April 13 or 14.
At the time, the cabinet secretary said, "An issue has been discussed in the cabinet. As Ramadan approaches, some items are urgently needed during Ramadan - edible oil, sugar, gram, lentils, dates, onions and ginger. With these, the Commerce Ministry today assured the Cabinet that the stock is comfortable (adequate) compared to the amount we need. '
"What TCB is importing will come to the country long before Rosa," he said. The six essentials that are especially needed during Ramadan will not be a problem. This time we are a little more comfortable. '
