The government is planning to generate 30,000 MW of solar power in the country in the next 20 years. The Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) has already approved the draft after sending a roadmap to the power department. It is planned to generate 29,454 MW of electricity from solar by 2041.

The information was published in a seminar titled ‘Roadmap and Reality of Proposed Solar Power’ organized by ‘Energy and Power’ magazine on Saturday. The seminar was conducted by Mollah Amjad Hossain, editor of the magazine.

At present, 546 MW of electricity is being generated from renewable energy. If the major rivers are governed under the Delta Plan, huge amount of land can be reclaimed. Which are likely to have 13 hubs. These hubs can generate 12,000 MW of solar power. The second possibility is shown from the solar power installed on the roof. The potential of 12,000 MW from this sector has also been highlighted.
