Committee to investigate irregularities in three financial institutions

The High Court has reconstituted the fact-finding committee to look into the financial corruption and economic collapse of the Bangladesh Industrial Finance Committee (BIFC), International Leasing and People’s Leasing. If any official of Bangladesh Bank is involved with this, this committee will also look into his corruption.

Judge Mohammad Khurshid Alam of the High Court’s Company Bench of the High Court passed the order on Tuesday (February 23rd) during a hearing on a single bench rule on debt defaulters. Barrister Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz was in favor of Bangladesh Bank in the court today.

As per the instructions, the list of 5 member committee was given by Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday. So that AKM Sajedur Rahman Khan, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank has been made the head.

The members of the committee are AKM Fazlur Rahman, Executive Director of the Central Bank, Kabir Ahmed and Nurul Amin, two General Managers. Deputy General Manager Sarwar Hossain has been made the Member Secretary.

Meanwhile, a single bench of Justice Khurshid Alam Sarkar today directed to keep two more members in the committee. They are former District and Sessions Judge Mohidul Islam and former Secretary Nurur Rahman. The committee has been asked to report within three months.
