Increased price of African tea
At the weekly auction of tea in Mosamba, Kenya, the price of tea leaves is around 2 dollars per kg. Tea was sold at auction at 1.96 dollars per kg. It was sold at 1.93 dollars last week. Demand from Pakistan has increased in the sixth auction of the current season. According to the East African Tea Trade Association (EATTA), Pakistan accounts for 38 percent of Kenya’s total tea exports. In the first two auctions in January this year, tea was sold at 1.94 dollar per kg. In this week’s auction, the supply of tea has increased by 7 lakh 35 thousand 968 kg, but the price has gone up. 1 crore 23 lakh kg of tea has come up in the market this week as against 1 crore 16 lakh kg last week.
