Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Md Tajul Islam said the construction of area-zone based infrastructure in the capital, building height, revenue and price of water, electricity and other utility services should be fixed.
He was responding to a question from reporters after visiting Dhaka WASA's 'Gandhabpur Water Treatment Plant' at Rupganj in Narayanganj on Saturday (February 6th).
The minister asked why people living in affluent areas and low-income people would pay the same price with equal opportunities. A kind of inequality is being created as equal prices are being set everywhere. Therefore, the rate of revenue and the cost of utility services should be increased for the people of upper class areas. Pricing of other utility services including similar revenue and holding tax is not logical. Seeking the cooperation of all in this regard, the Minister urged all to take the right decision for the development of the country.
