Nasir Ahmed Chowdhury, Founder Managing Director and Advisor of Green Delta Insurance, was honored at an international conference in India for his contribution to insurance inclusion in Bangladesh.
The pioneer of the insurance sector in Bangladesh was awarded the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' at the Bimtech Insurance Colloquium held online on Friday.
The keynote address was delivered by TL Alamelu, Member, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA). BMTech Director H Chaturvedi gave the introductory speech.
Professor Abhijit Chatterjee of BIMTECH conducted the first thematic discussion on the risks and actions to be taken in the insurance sector during the Coronation.
Farzana Chowdhury, Managing Director of Green Delta Insurance participated from Bangladesh. Also present were Bhabatosh Mishra, Director, Max Bupa Health Insurance, India; DVS Ramesh, General Manager, IRDA; Malti Jaswal, Senior Consultant, World Bank; and S. Prakash, Managing Director, Star Health Insurance.
Regarding the honor of Nasir Ahmed Chowdhury of Bangladesh, Farzana Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer of Green Delta Insurance, said, “This honor of the advisor of our organization is a source of pride for all of the GDIC family. He is a guide for us in insurance inclusion in Bangladesh.
Nasir Ahmed Chowdhury, a business expert in Bangladesh, is currently the Chairman of BRAC Delta Housing. He is a follower in the country's insurance activities.
After graduating from Dhaka University, Nasir Ahmed joined the then Pakistan Insurance Corporation in 1956. He moved to the United Kingdom for higher training and later to Germany as an instructor at the Munich Reinsurance Company.
After independence, Nasir Ahmed became the General Manager of the General Insurance Corporation of Bangladesh. Nasir Ahmed Chowdhury, the first CEO of Green Delta Insurance, founded Green Delta Insurance in 1975 with a few close friends.
Nasir Ahmed, former president of the Bangladesh Insurance Association, has also played a role in policy-making for other commercial organizations, the FBCCI, the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and the Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
