Abdul Halim appointed as commmissioner at BSEC
The circular stated that the appointment will come into effect on the day he joins office
The government has appointed former Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim as commissioner of the stock market regulator, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for the next four years.
The Ministry of Finance made the announcement through a circular on Tuesday, which stated that he has been made commissioner as per section 5 and 6 of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Rules-1993.
The circular stated that the appointment will come into effect on the day he joins office.
The BSEC is structured in such a way that it may have up to four commissioners and one chairman at any point in time.
Earlier, on May 20, the government appointed professors Mizanur Rahman and Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed as commissioners of the BSEC.
Before that, on May 17, the ministry appointed Prof Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, professor at Dhaka University, as the chairman of the commission for the next four years.
Earlier still, on May 14, the tenure of the longest serving chairman of the BSEC Professor M Khairul Hossain ended. Khairul has returned to his original position of a professor at Dhaka University. He is a professor at the Department of Finance.
Abdul Halim obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Human Resources. He also holds a Master of Commerce (M.Com) in Management from Dhaka University. He has vast working experience of more than 32 years in many fields such as public administration, human resources, and financial management.
