21 more die, 1166 new infected

1,166 fresh positive cases have been recorded in a single day, raising the total number of confirmed cases climbed to 36,751. Besides, 21 more deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll climbed to 522.

DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through online on Monday at around 2:30 pm.

A total of 5,407 samples have been tested in 48 coronavirus testing labs across the country including the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) over the last 24 hours. Of these, 1,166 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 36,751, she said in the bulletin.

21 more deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. 18 of them are male and 7 of them are female. With this, the death toll reached 522.

In age-based analysis – one was aged between 0 to 10, one was in 10s, two of them was in their 31s, five of them was in their 40s, seven of them was in their 50s, three of them was in their 60s, one was in 70s, and one was in 80s. 15 of them are hailing from Dhaka, 4 in Chattogram, and 2 in Barishal.

Besides, 245 new people have recovered from the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 7,579, the health official said.

The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
