Government appointed two commissioners at BSEC
They are Prof Mizanur Rahman, Department of Accounting and Information Systems, University of Dhaka and Prof Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, Department of Finance of the same university
The government on Wednesday appointed two commissioners at the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for a period of four years.
They are: Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman, Department of Accounting and Information Systems, University of Dhaka and Professor Dr Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, Department of Finance of the same university.
The Ministry of Finance through separate notifications made their appointments on the same day.
The notification says they have been made commissioners as per section 5 and 6 of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Rules-1993.
It says the appointment will come into effect from the dates of their joining the office.
The BSEC consists of a chairman and four commissioners, but now it has chairman and three commissioners.
On Sunday, the government appointed Prof Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, dean of the Faculty of Business Studies at Dhaka University, as the new chairman of the BSEC for the next four years.
On May 14, the tenure of the longest serving chairman of the BSEC Professor M Khairul Hossain ended.
Khairul has returned to his original position of a professor of the Department of Finance at Dhaka University.
