14 more people have died from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 328 in the country. Besides, the highest number of 1273 fresh cases have been recorded in a single day. With this, the total number of positive cases climbed to 22,268.
DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through online on Sunday.
A total of 8,114 samples have been tested in 42 coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours. Of these, 1273 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 22,268, she said.
This is the biggest single-day spike in new cases since the first COVID-19 cases were detected in the country on March 8.
Besides, 256 new people have recovered from the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 4,373 the health official said.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
