Two more people died from dangerous coronavirous in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of death toll to 8.
Besides, nine more people have reported positive for the new coronavirus. With this, so far 70 people have been infected with the virus in the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services informed this through an online press conference on Saturday.
Director General of Health Directorate Prof Doctor Abul Kalam Azad and Director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora were present during this time.
Bangladesh reported its first three cases of COVID-19 on March 8.
The new coronavirus pandemic first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year.
The deadly virus spread to 205 countries and territories, killing some 59,206 people globally, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
As many as 1,118,059 people worldwide caught the virus. Among them, 229,153 people recovered from the virus, the website said.
