Five more coronavirus cases reported in Bangladesh

Bangladesh on Friday announced the detection of five new novel coronavirus patients, raising the number of such cases in the country to 61, reports news agency UNB.

Health minister Zahid Maleque said this through a videoconference.

Bangladesh has so far reported six deaths from COVID-19.

The global death toll from the deadly virus jumped to 53,190 on Friday.

It has so far infected 1,015,466 people around the world, according to worldometers.info.

Of them, 750,047 are currently undergoing treatment with 37,696 being in critical condition. So far, 212,229 people have recovered.

Coronavirus, first reported in China in December last year, is affecting 200 countries and territories around the world and two international cruise ships.

The World Health Organisation on 11 March declared the virus crisis a pandemic.
