Now coronavirus spreads all over the world.Bangladesh reported three new cases of coronavirus infection on Thursday.

With the new patients, the total number of COVID-19 patients across the country jumped to 17 with one case of death.

Abul Kalam Azad, director general of Directorate General of Health Services, disclosed the information at a press conference at the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research.

The new patients, including a woman, are family members of a Bangladeshi expatriate in Italy who returned home recently, he said.

A 70-year-old man— also suffering from pulmonary diseases, diabetes and hypertension— was the first who died in Bangladesh. The man had come in contract with a person having foreign travel history.

The WHO on Thursday morning confirmed 207,860 cases and 8,657 deaths in 166 countries.

Amid the on-going wave of COVID-19 outbreak, the country’s hospitals and doctors appeared unprepared to tackle the coronavirus spread.

Officials and experts said that the number of suspected cases was increasing with most of them going untested due to the scanty testing facilities.

With the coronavirus crisis unfolding, panic among the people is growing as public health experts said that the government lacked transparency in presenting the actual picture.
