Gold prices have fallen sharply in the world market over the past week. In one week, the price of this precious metal has dropped by about 3 percent. And it has dropped above 50 dollars per ounce. Besides gold, platinum and silver have also fallen sharply in the last one week.

Despite the fall in the price of gold in the world market, the price of this precious metal is not being reduced in the market of Bangladesh at present. The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has decided not to adjust the price of gold in the country’s market for the time being due to strict restrictions imposed across the country due to the outbreak of epidemic corona.

In this regard, Bajus President Enamul Haque Khan said, “We have seen a big drop in the price of gold in the world market.” Our business is now closed due to lockdown. So at present the price of gold in the country’s market is not being reduced. We will decide on this after opening the lockdown.

He said if the price of gold in the world market falls further or remains at the level it is now, then opening the lockdown will reduce the price of gold in the country’s market. However, if the price of gold rises again in the world market before the lockdown opens, then the price may not be adjusted.
