Extinct black nilgai rescued in Thakurgaon

Local peoples have seized an endangered black male nilgai on the banks of the Nagar River, which flows through the border of Baliadangi upazila in the northern Thakurgaon district.
On Tuesday evening, people of Paria Shaldanga area of Baliadangi upazila detained the nilgai and tied ropes around its nose and neck.
Upon hearing the news, Paria Union Parishad Chairman Zillur Rahman of Balaiyadangi Upazila and members of the local Kantivita BGB camp were present. When the Nilgai detainees refused to hand over the Nilgai, the BGB members took the Nilgai into their capture.
In this regard, Thakurgaon Forest Department Range Officer Haripada Debnath said, the endangered species of nilgai has been rescued from Paria Shaldanga area in Baliadangi upazila. Currently with the local BGB. First aid was given there. Special care is being taken to ensure that Nilgai does not have any problem. The nilgai will be sent to Dinajpur National Park soon.
