Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sent financial gift of Taka 2,000 each to these distressed women of 64 districts at a virtual ceremony from Ganobhaban, said a Nagad press release.

The digital financial service of Bangladesh Post Office has borne the cost of sending and cash out charge. In this case, each distressed woman has received Taka 35 in addition to her Nagad account.

Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha, a national women’s organization, under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has done all the work of determining and selecting the number of distressed women.

“Nagad family is proud to be associated with such an impressive initiative on Bangamata’s birthday celebration,” said Tanvir Ahmed Mishuk, managing director of Nagad.

Earlier, the Prime Minister gave financial assistance of Taka 2,500 to 50 lakh families, who lost their jobs due to Covid-19, and 17 lakh families of the total number received their grants through Nagad. Nagad also had borne a large portion of the cash out charges at that time.

Besides, Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shahida Sultana, on behalf of the Prime Minister, distributed 3200 sewing machines among 3200 women and 100 laptops among the poor meritorious students of the districts.
