Death toll surpasses 100 in country

10 more people have died from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 101 in the country. Besides, the total number of the confirmed cases in the country has climbed to 2,948 as 492 more people tested positive for the lethal virus during the time.

Additional Director General (administration) of DGHS Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through online on Monday.

A total of 492 fresh cases were detected after testing 2,779 samples across the country over the last 24 hours, she said, adding that as many as 26,720 samples have so far tested.

Meanwhile, 10 new people have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 85.

About the new deceased, Prof Nasima said that eight of them are male and two female. Four of them were in their 60s, four in 50s and two in their 40s. Among the 10 deaths in the past 24 hours, five are in Dhaka, four in Narayanganj and one in Narsingdi.

Meanwhile, of the total 492 positive fresh cases, 19.5 percent were in Gazipur, 13.5 percent in Kishoreganj and six percent in Narsingdi.
